ABOUT THIS COMMISSION
In the luminous, pastel-tinted world of Miami Vice, the Lamborghini Countach was more than a prop - it was a punctuation mark in the language of excess. Its arrival on-screen felt almost like a cameo from the future: all impossible angles and low-slung intent, a wedge of pure theatre gliding through a haze of heat and neon.
Against the show’s palette of linen suits and Art Deco skylines, the white Countach didn’t just fit - it completed the composition. It spoke of aspiration and danger in equal measure, a rolling metaphor for the allure and corruption of Miami’s underworld. In a series defined by style as much as substance, the Countach was the ultimate statement piece - a car that didn’t just move through the frame, but defined it.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul Ward has been a professional photographer for over twenty years now and recently won his category at the British Photography Awards 2020. Over the years his work has been published in many books and magazines both in the UK and internationally and his architectural images currently adorn the walls aboard Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2. Paul’s passion for cars started when he bought his first Austin Mini almost 30 years ago and ever since then he has been obsessed with both classic cars and modern supercars, so, as an image-maker, it’s not surprising that automobile photography has become a passion of his too.
