ABOUT THIS COMMISSION
The Lamborghini Sián is a limited-production hybrid supercar. Unveiled in September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Sián (which means "flash" or "lightning" in the Bolognese dialect) represents Lamborghini's first foray into hybrid technology.
The Sián combines a naturally aspirated V12 engine with a supercapacitor-based hybrid system, marking a departure from conventional battery-based hybrid systems. The V12 engine produces 774 bhp, while the 48-volt e-motor adds an additional 34 bhp, bringing the total power output to 808 bhp. The e-motor is integrated into the gearbox to provide immediate response and enhanced performance.
The Sián's hybrid system also incorporates regenerative braking, allowing the supercapacitor to store energy during deceleration and release it during acceleration. This unique system provides a power boost during gearshifts and allows the Sián to achieve quicker acceleration compared to non-hybrid Lamborghini models.
In terms of design, the Sián features a futuristic and aggressive appearance, with sharp lines and aerodynamic elements. Its distinctive styling cues pay homage to Lamborghini's iconic design language while incorporating modern and innovative elements. Lamborghini produced only 63 examples of the Sián, making it an ultra-exclusive and highly sought-after supercar. Each unit was sold prior to its official unveiling, demonstrating the demand and desirability of this unique hybrid Lamborghini.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
“Car Fine Art”, is how Dutch Photographer Thomas Boudewijn describes his work. “I love cars and especially their design. Cars are works of art. Subtle lines, smooth curves, angular shapes, beautiful details and materials defining a car and brand.”
“The unique FDL Lighting technique (focused diffused lighting) gives me artistic freedom to create truly unique images and shoot ‘Art on Wheels’.” It’s a tribute to car designers. Using this unique lighting technique, Thomas manages to eliminate distracting reflections on a car and replace them with a silky smooth finish to really highlight the design.
In addition to car photography, Thomas also is working as a Graphic Designer and Food & Lifestyle Photographer in the coffee industry. Cars are a fixed element in his life. Shooting for a variety of clients, organising Cars & Coffee events and providing FDL Workshops. “I love to pass on my photography knowledge and experience to other photographers, helping them expand their skills and provide new inspiration.
